ONLINE ART SALES - AMADEO MODIGLIANI - PAUL CÉZANNE
Are the Web and social media "democratising" art? Are galleries and exhibitions going to be consigned to history? Well, perhaps not just yet. But according to one report online sales of art reached £2.84 billion last year. 400,000 works of art are available for purchase online from 10,000 artists based in 100 countries.
"Live fast, die young" and leave long faces. Living fast and dying young is usually attributed to James Dean. Long faces refers to 20th century Italian artist Amadeo Modigliani, who achieved both in his short life. An exhibition of his portraits opens at Tate Modern on 23rd November and runs until 2nd April.
