I started painting fourteen years ago, and fell in love with watercolours straight away. Alden Roberts was my first tutor, and I then joined Nick Andrew’s New Horizon’s group. Both Margaret Evans (pastels), Susie Corbett (botanical watercolour), and Simon Williams (gouache) have influenced my work.
My inspiration comes mainly from nature and my garden. I love painting the flowers which I have planted. I also enjoy painting portraits in pastel, and wildlife in gouache. I am totally inspired by colour.
I enjoy working with fresh flowers as well as photographs of wildlife, letting the paintbrush do the drawing. This means I never quite know where the painting will go, but I love the freedom and spontaneity it gives me.
If selected, I hope to exhibit again this year with Sherborne Art Club.
